Toronto’s George Brown College has turned to digital signage technology developer Christie’s projection systems for its Building Information Modelling (BIM) Lab in the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies (CCET).

Students, industry professionals and business partners use the lab at George Brown’s Casa Loma campus to create three-dimensional (3-D) models and then view them on an immersive display, which is facilitated by three 120-Hz stereoscopic 3-D Digital Light Processing (DLP) Mirage WU7K-M projectors provided by Christie in Kitchener, Ont.

“After seeing Christie’s technology firsthand at Pennsylvania State University, we knew this was the direction we wanted to take to create a fully immersive environment,” says Clint Kissoon, chair of CCET’s School of Architectural Studies. “Christie’s proposal came within scope, budget and procedural requirements to conform to the Federal Economic Development Agency’s procurement processes, enabling us to receive a grant for this project. This lab will help fill a skills gap in the construction industry.”
