- Ampco Manufacturers in Coquitlam, B.C., has purchased John Peachey & Associates Innovative Signage, a sign shop in North Vancouver (see Sign Media Canada, February 2009, page 16), to complement its existing Ampco Grafix division, which prints wide-format graphics.
- Software developer Autodesk has acquired Delcam, which provides computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software for the sign industry.
- Montreal-based digital signage operators UB Media and Fokus Media have merged, combining their advertising networks on 54 university and college campuses across Canada.
- Graphic film manufacturer Drytac Canada, based in Concord, Ont., has begun an official sponsorship of the Air Miles reward program. Drytac’s customers across all provinces will earn one reward mile for every $40 they spend on eligible purchases.
- Large-format piezoelectric printer vendor Mutoh America has partnered with pressure-sensitive film manufacturer Avery Dennison for another year of car-wrap training classes, including a session in Toronto scheduled for August 18 to 20, 2014.
- Matrox Graphics, which develops digital signage graphics cards, expansion modules and extension products in Dorval, Que., has validated 3M Touch Systems’ new driver for multi-user interactivity across multiple-screen configurations.
- Océ-Canada, which manufactures wide-format presses, has been amalgamated as a division of Canon Canada—which acquired it in January 2013—and will operate as the Professional Printing Solutions Group.
- Electronics for Imaging (EFI), which develops super-wide-format printers, inks and software, has acquired SmartLinc, which provides shipping software.
- The Jordan Company, a private-equity firm, has invested in a partnership with Transilwrap, which converts and manufactures specialty plastic films for large-format backlit graphics, point-of-purchase (POP) displays and other applications.
- Franchise system FastSigns International has been authorized to sell Modulex wayfinding products in Canada and the U.S. Founded by the Lego Group, Modulex develops flexible and interchangeable wall, desk, door and directory signs.
- Digital signage hardware manufacturer AOpen partnered with surveillance camera manufacturer Axis Communications to develop ‘hybrid’ signage and security systems for retailers and other commercial businesses.
- Sign-Zone has consolidated its Creative Banner Assemblies and Edge Exhibits subsidiaries. The newly merged business has been branded Creative Banner Displays.
