Winners of the inaugural Christie Design Awards, which honour interactive display concepts, were recently announced at the University of Waterloo’s (UWaterloo’s) digital arts and media satellite campus in Stratford, Ont.
As a partnership between the university and Christie Digital Systems Canada, the awards program encourages first-year students in the Global Business and Digital Arts (GBDA) program to explore interactive display capabilities by designing animated content to be showcased at Christie’s headquarters (HQ) in nearby Kitchener, Ont.
More than 120 students participated this year. The first prize of $1,500 went to Jessica Barch, Sarah Clare, Connor Ruest, Lauren Noble and Michelle Kostka for their aquatic-themed animation (pictured top). The second prize of $1,000 went to Kitty Huang, Tani Omorogbe, Andrew Gibson, Brendon Case and Abubakar Guled for their dance-inspired project (pictured bottom).
“In judging this competition, we were impressed by the creative quality of the students’ ideas,” says Dave Muscat, Christie’s senior sales director. “We look forward to continuing to work together in supporting digital display learning.”
