On October 3, 2014, participating International Sign Association (ISA) member companies—including one Canadian sign shop—will mark Sign Manufacturing Day by opening their facilities to students and other representatives of their communities.
ISA launched the initiative last year, when eight of its member companies–representing 12 locations—hosted more than 200 students from middle schools, high schools, vocational training programs and community colleges. The goal was to showcase the importance of manufacturing to local economies, as well as job opportunities in the sign industry.
This year, 17 companies have signed on to participate, representing 21 locations. Mattatall Signs in Dartmouth, N.S., was the only Canadian company to participate last year and will also do so this year. Anyone else who wants to sign on can contact ISA workforce development director Alison Kent via e-mail at alison.kent@signs.org.
