Products for the sign industry—including two Mimaki printers and Roland DGA’s digital signage system—were among the award winners at last month’s 2014 Viscom international trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany.
Mimaki’s JFX200-2513 wide-format printer (pictured, left) and UJV500-160 ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) light-emitting diode (LED) printer (pictured, right) both won ‘Best of 2014’ awards in the large-format printing category. The honours follow a European Digital Press Association (EDP) award for the JFX200-2513, which was announced in May at the Federation of European Screen Printers Associations (FESPA) Digital 2014 show in Munich, Germany.
“These newly launched printers were our key focus at the Viscom show and the awards demonstrate we were spot-on with this decision,” says Mike Horsten, general manager (GM) of marketing for Mimaki in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “Clearly, the judges could not decide between them, so they picked both.”
Meanwhile, Roland DisplayStudio (pictured, below), which includes proprietary software, a media player and a commercial-grade screen, won a ‘Best of 2014’ award in the software category.
“Receiving this prestigious award from Viscom is quite an honour,” says Rick Scrimger, president of Roland DGA. “It reinforces that we have achieved our goal of making it simple for sign shops to offer digital signage to customers to complement their existing print campaigns.”
