Caldera, which develops software for wide-format imaging, has introduced Nexio to help improve efficiency and data reporting for sign printing businesses.
The software allows users to connect their raster image processor (RIP), workflow, management information system (MIS) and other software packages to improve production reporting and file automation. It extends the Job Definition Format (JDF) protocol to meet requirements for wide-format digital printing environments.
Nexio can automate processes to save time, money and resources. A single job can be identified and tagged before being sent into a file workflow and delivered to a specific printer with specific parameters. This avoids manual intervention and the need to create multiple folders for each type of workflow.
Nexio runs in the background with a module configured for software applications that need to communicate with the RIP. Each module creates an ‘instance’ in the Nexio JobTracker, which allows users to view, sort, process, start or stop jobs and control error and confirmation messages.
