Astral Out of Home, a division of Bell Media, has announced the Western Canada, Toronto and Montreal winners of its sixth annual Carte Blanche for Creatives competition, which honours ad agencies for submitting innovative out-of-home (OOH) ad concepts.
For Western Canada, Grace Cho and Cameron Spires of Cossette Vancouver won with a digital signage campaign for McDonald’s, which uses various McCafé beverages to indicate the temperature in real time. In Toronto, Spencer Dingle and Jordan Hamer of LG2 won with their Nike bus shelter campaign, which encourages running by closing the shelter off to passengers. Finally, Luc Dupéré and Etienne Goulet of Tank in Montreal won with Teletoon at Night ads featuring only the distinctive eyes and smiles of well-known cartoon characters.
“Once again, we received high-quality submissions that are a testament to the tremendous amount of creativity at Canadian agencies,” says Lucy Collin, vice-president (VP) of marketing and innovation for Bell Media Sales. “Our grand prize winners were able to convey strong messages for their clients, while using the full potential offered by OOH.”
The winning teams will attend the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity later this month in France, while their clients will be offered campaigns worth $50,000 on Astral’s OOH network.
