Digital signage turns smartphones into virtual tennis rackets

Interactive Tennis AppMontreal-based iGotcha Media developed an interactive, tennis-themed mobile-to-digital-signage application to support National Bank of Canada’s presentation of the Rogers Cup, a tennis tournament that took place earlier this month in Montreal and Toronto.

Customers at select National Bank branches could use their smartphones to scan a Quick Response (QR) code or enter a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) into their mobile browser, then enter a personalized code and play a game of simulated tennis on large digital screens mounted behind reception desks and teller counters. Upon completing their game, they could enter a contest to win tickets to the Rogers Cup.

“To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time a major financial institution anywhere in the world has deployed this type of technology,” says Greg Adelstein, president of iGotcha. “The simplicity of delivering digital signage network access via smartphone is incredibly powerful.”
