Cosmetics retailer Sephora has opened its first Canadian ‘teach, inspire, play’ (TIP) workshop store in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, using digital signage to introduce a more interactive approach to shopping.
The newly renovated 850-m2 (9,146-sf) concept store, one of only four of its kind across North America, includes a workshop space where clients can access tutorials through Apple iPad stations while the ‘beauty board,’ a large digital screen, showcases user-generated content. The store also features an expanded beauty studio, including touch screens that let customers match foundation, lip colour and concealer to their skin tone.
Having opened in late August, the store will add more touch screens this month, including a skincare studio display to help choose products based on diagnostics of skin concerns and even a ‘fragrance IQ’ screen that will allow users to sample an array of different scents with the tap of a finger.
