‘Beyond,’ a new indoor mural created by artist Daan Roosegaarde’s studio for Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is under consideration for a Guinness World Record as the world’s largest printed lenticular wall.
The 112-m (367-ft) long mural is only 100 mm (4 in.) thick, but uses inkjet-printed cylindrical lenses—i.e. lenticules—and light-emitting diode (LED) illumination to create an illusion of greater depth. And as people walk past the wall, its images of clouds appear to move.
Inspired by the paintings of 17th-century Dutch masters, the permanent artwork comprises 160 billion pixels and features ‘hidden’ elements, including a cloud resembling a rabbit and another in the shape of the Netherlands.
