New holiday decor brightens Canadian malls

For the holiday retail season, Cadillac Fairview (CF) has introduced new, festive decor elements to its 20 shopping centres across the country, including oversized floor pieces and, reportedly, Canada’s first interactive kinetic light sculpture.

The holiday sculptures include light-emitting diode (LED) moose and reindeer (pictured), Christmas trees, garlands and walk-through ornaments. Each mall also has its own Christmas tree, ranging in height from 11 m (36 ft) at most locations to 30.5 m (100 ft) at Toronto’s Eaton Centre.

The interactive light sculpture, meanwhile, has debuted at Toronto’s Sherway Gardens. Dubbed ‘Love Lights,’ it features hundreds of crystal-shaped LEDs that glow and move independently to form shapes and patterns, reacting to interactive pads below.
