Sawgrass, which formulates inks and develops colour management software for digital wide-format graphics, has donated a Virtuoso dye sublimation printer to the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) for use in educational workshops.
“When we heard SGIA would be hosting an event in May 2017 focused on sublimation for wide-format graphics, we wanted to play an active role,” explains Dimple Patel, Sawgrass’ vice-president (VP) of product development. “Our team will also be there to help new sublimators learn how to create banners, soft signage and other interior applications.”
The 635-mm (25-in.), eight-colour, high-definition (HD) product decorating system (pictured) is being installed in a lab at SGIA’s headquarters (HQ) in Fairfax, Va. At the May workshop, ‘Operation Sublimation: Mission Wide-format Graphics,’ participants will gain hands-on experience with the machine to help boost their confidence.
