Kiosk updates BC Ferries travellers on Salt Spring Island

10net, a digital signage company based in North Vancouver, has installed a custom-engineered kiosk at the BC Ferries terminal on British Columbia’s Salt Spring Island to help communicate real-time information to travellers.

The kiosk features a 1.4-m (55-in.) liquid crystal display (LCD) in portrait mode designed for readability in sunny conditions and locked within a dust-tight and waterproof enclosure. It is part of a pilot project that will see a total of 45 kiosks installed in BC Ferries’ minor terminals across the province by March 2018.

Previously, there was no way for the transportation provider to update passengers on the status, Global Positioning System (GPS) co-ordinates or sailing times of its ferries.
