3M has launched a North American road show to demonstrate a variety of road infrastructure and transportation safety innovations, such as reflective signage and wet-reflective pavement markings. The tour will reach nearly 50 cities, including several in Canada.
On the road since Jan. 28, the company’s custom-designed, 16.2-m (53-ft) long truck is scheduled to make stops on May 7 in Milton, Ont., May 9 in Saint-Laurent, Que., and Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 in Saskatoon, with the possibility of adding more dates. It will host in-person, hands-on demonstrations of anti-graffiti and fluorescent sign materials, personalized sign design and printing and virtual reality (VR) that shows how autonomous vehicles recognize and respond to traffic signs.
“Our tour will present solutions to many of the problems drivers face, such as reduced visibility due to inclement weather, nighttime driving and the hazards encountered in work zones,” says John Riccardi, vice-president (VP) and general manager (GM) of 3M’s transportation safety division.
