In Edmonton’s Ice District lies The Canadian Icehouse, part of The Canadian Brewhouse corporate brand. This sports bar and lounge fuses its own style with the signature sign and style of The Canadian Brewhouse, an established and popular sports bar, which first opened in 2002.

An undertaking by City Image Signs, the exterior of the lounge has two illuminated signs, with an additional sign at the entrance inside. Weighing 418.2 kg (923 lb) and mounted on an outrigger, this custom-painted, 101-mm (4-in.) deep carrier ensures visibility from all angles, even through the windows behind it. It spans a total of 1.9 m and 229 mm (6 ft and 9 in.) in height and 5.8 m and 152 mm (19 ft and 6 in.) in width. However, what sets it apart are the custom silver reflector discs spread across the sign. Fastened to the face, these discs dance in the wind, casting dynamic reflections for all passersby to see.

Layered atop the reflector discs is a dark blue painted aluminum composite panel (ACP), contoured to highlight the logo and the letters. The trim cap channel letters are made with vinyl graphics. “The,” “Icehouse,” and the star shape face-illuminated letters glow with white LEDs, while the “Canadian” face-illuminated channel letters consist of red LEDs with a halo effect produced by blue LEDs. A secondary exterior sign measures 1.9 m in height and 4.5 m (15 ft) in width. Inside, a sign spanning the entrance extends 2.1 m and 25.4 mm (7 ft and 1 in.) in height and 4.5 m and 228.6 mm (15 ft and 9 in.) in width, enveloping guests as they walk in. To complete the look, a flexibrite LED leaf on one side adds a final touch to the indoor sign.

In harmony, these signs—both inside and outside the bar—illuminate and elevate The Canadian Icehouse experience, bringing the Alberta locale to life.
