At Ottawa’s Brookstreet Hotel, interactive digital signage technology from EyeClick is supporting a new ‘virtual playground’ game for children and other guests.
Installed in the hotel’s recently added games room, the EyePlay platform is activated via MotionAware technology whenever visitors move across a projected display zone, turning the floor into a play space for up to 15 participants, ages two and older. With games downloaded to a console, colourful graphics are projected onto the floor and walls, accompanied by sound.
The hotel’s managers chose to install EyeClick’s gold package, which includes 30 games, ranging from sports (soccer, hockey, etc.) to musical games (piano, drums, disco) to educational fare (solar system, capitals, etc.).
“Since implementation, EyePlay has been a huge success in our new games room,” says Meike Buechler, the hotel’s marketing manager. “We see not only little kids playing for hours, but also grown-ups from neighbouring businesses coming to the hotel for lunch and then stopping at the zone for a quick and fun game of soccer or hockey.”
The platform was developed for use in airports, department stores, museums, malls and even medical centres, with the ability to customize games for specific locations, but it was seen as a particularly natural fit for the hotel, where a conference centre, spa, restaurant and golf course are complemented by a focus on technology.
“We believe more hotels will choose to adopt this technology in the near future,” says Yuval Golan, EyeClick’s vice-president (VP) of marketing.
