- NEC Display Solutions’ 686-mm (27-in.) MultiSync EA273WM commercial liquid crystal display (LCD) with light-emitting diode (LED) backlighting (pictured) won a 2012 International Forum (IF) product design award. Among other factors, it was praised for its chassis, which is up to 30 per cent thinner and 25 per cent lighter than its predecessors.
- Electronics For Imaging (EFI) reached a new record over the course of 2012, selling more than a million litres of ultraviolet-curable (UV-curable) ink in less than a year.
- Digital printer manufacturer Oki Data Americas celebrated its 40th anniversary. The company was established in December 1972 and brought its first printers to market in 1973.
- Montreal-based digital signage integrator Telecine Multimedia and software developer Scala were honoured at Daily DOOH’s Gala Awards, winning the best office building/corporate installation award for their ‘link’ display installed at Bloomberg’s global headquarters (HQ) in New York, N.Y.
- Flexible magnetic sheeting manufacturer MagX, which serves the printing, retail trade and promotional product markets, has celebrated its 48th anniversary.
- Scientific Certification Systems (SCS)—which certifies products for environmental stewardship and sustainability and food safety, quality and purity—has verified Spartech’s Ultros Renu and Renu 90 and Royalite G50 plastic sheets conform to its recycled-content standard, which calls for at least 50 per cent pre-consumer, recycled content. The Renu polyethylene terephtalate glycol-modified (PETG) sheets are used in point-of-purchase (POP) displays and store fixtures, while Royalite G50 is used in wall coverings.
