During the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), NanoLumens displays were used for the second year in a row to help Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) run a fundraising event for charitable activities in Haiti.
Following 2011’s performance by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, the 2012 event featured the band Arcade Fire, along with other musical acts. A pair of 2.9-m (114-in.) NanoSlim displays were used to showcase the on-stage action to the guests, who included many celebrities in town for TIFF.
“When an event is as important as this, you want to delivery in every way possible, which is why we used two displays to give the crowd the best possible view of the stage,” says David Weatherhead, vice-president (VP) of APG Displays, which distributes NanoLumens’ products in Canada and managed the fundraising event. “Power consumption was a concern in a tent on the lawn of a large estate, as we were using a generator. These displays require low power but are capable of providing an incredibly bright, beautiful and clear picture.”
The event raised more than $500,000 in four hours, which will help build schools and art centres in Haiti’s poorest areas.
