Seized vehicles wrapped and redeployed

British Columbia’s civil forfeiture office (CFO) wants vehicles seized from gangs and the drug trade to be wrapped with anti-crime graphics, for use by law-enforcement agencies in community outreach efforts.
Following the example of an ‘Operation Reclamation’ approach taken in 2011 by the police department in Abbotsford, B.C. with a forfeited Hummer H2 (pictured), the CFO has invited other law-enforcement agencies to apply to use two recently seized vehicles for stints of up to two years, to help fight gang-related and organized crime.
The first agency approved to borrow a vehicle under the CFO’s new program is the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit for British Columbia (CFSEU-BC), which plans to use it at meetings, media events and presentations to at-risk youth.
More vehicles will be ‘matched’ as they become available in the future. The law-enforcement departments must pay for the graphic wraps, insurance, maintenance and other operational expenses.
