Toronto-based Proprint Services, which produces point-of-purchase (POP) displays, has upgraded its wide-format output capacity with the installation of the first Inca Onset S40 flatbed printer in Canada, supplied by Fujifilm Canada.
Proprint provides a range of graphic design, prepress, colour proofing, prototype development, colour retouching, finishing, marketing and packaging services. Its in-house lithographic and digital printing systems allow it to handle entire POP campaigns, including floor, end-cap and counter displays, cling vinyl, banners, tent card and mobile pieces.
The addition of the Onset is helping the company deal with size and substrate limitations.
“Our other flatbeds couldn’t print on corrugated substrates well,” says Richard Krakower, president. “Now our corrugated printing looks just as good as—if not better than—printing on 45-kg (100-lb) gloss paper.”
The printer can also be operated in manual, semi-automation or three-quarter-automation modes, all in the same configuration.
“We produce a lot of jobs with sheet runs between 20 and 500 and there are no longer one or two people standing around and waiting,” says Krakower. “The time we are saving is priceless.”
