Toronto-based PE Plus Imaging has become the first print service provider anywhere in North America to install the Durst Rho P10 250 flatbed digital inkjet printer.

Co-owners Debbie Jaue and Bob Clark, whose company opened in 1980 with an early-model Durst Lambda laser photo printer, selected the new machine over other mid-range printers to meet the growing Canadian market demand for a broader variety of imaged output and faster turnarounds. The 2.5-m (8.2-ft) wide printer uses a Quadro printhead array to deliver up to 1,000 dpi in resolution in production mode.

“We wanted a printer that not only could keep up with customer requirements, but also would allow us to propose and produce options customers hadn’t thought of before,” says Jaue. “The ability to do that sets us apart from the competition and makes us very valuable.”

The Rho P10 250 is designed to produce point-of-purchase (POP) displays, backlit graphics, packaging and commercial displays at speeds up to 195 m2 (2,100 sf) per hour.
