Suzanne Grimes, who previously published TV Guide, Reader’s Digest and various Condé Nast magazines, has been named president and chief operating officer (COO) of Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, effective January 1, 2013.

Reporting to CEO William Eccleshare, Grimes will be responsible for all of the out-of-home (OOH) advertising firm’s business in Canada and the U.S. She will head the executive committee that guides overall North American corporate strategies and will also collaborate with the global leadership group, which directs worldwide strategies.

Her appointment reflects the company’s aggressive investments in global advertising, including digital signage efforts.

“It’s a dynamic time, with massive changes ripping through the media industry, but the OOH business stands out with its unique promise and potential,” says Grimes. “I’m trilled to join the leadership team at Clear Channel. The company’s scale, efficiency, global footprint and advances in digital technology can be a game-changer for major marketers.”

“Suzanne’s decision to join us highlights outdoor advertising’s immense potential to connect consumers to brands,” says Eccleshare. “Her depth of experience and leadership skills will be invaluable.”
