The winners of the second Inca Digital Excellence Awards (IDEAs) were announced on October 19, recognizing inkjet-printed graphic applications for their conceptual vision and creativity.
Inca Digital, which manufactures flatbed inkjet printers, hosted the awards at a dinner event and honoured the best of its customers’ entries from around the world, as judged by an independent panel. The winning projects were selected on the basis of their originality, substrate complexity, successfully overcoming design and concept challenges, client benefit and visual and structural impression.
Categories included display graphics, retail interiors, dimensional point-of-purchase (POP) graphics, décor, furniture, interactive displays and product decoration. Wide-format winners included a ‘walk-through’ movie promotional display for Snow White and the Huntsman (pictured, above) and a giant toy train printed on a rigid paper-based board substrate (below).
“What is particularly gratifying is the entries were produced on a wide range of printers, from more recent models to those installed more than a decade ago,” says Yoshinari Otani, Inca’s chief operating officer (COO). “It’s a wonderful testament to their investment value.”
There were no Canadian winners this year, but Inca encourages customers everywhere to enter the biennial competition.
