Montreal-based Glide Path Media plans to install 929-m2 (10,000-sf) advertising graphics atop carefully selected building rooftops, to be viewed by passengers in airplanes before they land at 100 major airports around the world.
The company has worked for two years with flight-simulation specialists to determine which buildings in the airports’ flight paths are structurally sufficient to support its giant rooftop mesh banner frames, then has pursued 10-year leases with those buildings’ owners.
“We have the potential to reach more than three billion airline passengers across our global network,” says George Goulakos, one of Glide Path Media’s founding partners. “with a maximum exposure of seven to 12 seconds of viewing as they watch out their windows during the airport approach.”
The banner frames are made from galvanized steel and recycled polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and sit on rubber footings and rubber-padded counterweights, with no need to penetrate existing roof membranes. Ultraviolet-resistant (UV-resistant) graphics will be printed in six colours and illuminated at night by light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
