Signmaking franchise FastSigns International has begun its second annual ‘MetamorphoSign’ online contest, whereby businesses and non-profit organizations get the chance to win one of three visual communications makeovers. Organizations were recently invited to visit www.metamorphosign.com and submit a ‘before’ photo and a 250-word write-up explaining why they need a visual makeover. The program includes three categories: traditional brick-and-mortar businesses; non-profit organizations; and vehicle-based businesses. Last year’s first-place winner was L’Atelier du Chocolat in Windsor, Ont. (pictured). “Every organization has a story to tell and this contest gives us a fun way to reach out to others and help tell it,” says Drue Townsend, senior vice-president of marketing for FastSigns. “Visual communications encompass signs, graphics, displays and promotional and marketing materials, which are critical to their identity and their success.” This year’s entries were submitted between July 16 and August 10. Votes will be accepted online from August 20 to 31. Finally, the entry that receives the most votes in each category will be announced as a winner on September 20. “We are excited to implement what we learned last year,” says Townsend. “We have built a new microsite, improved the user experience and made it easier for participants to promote their entries via social media.”
