The International Sign Association (ISA) has announced the winners of its 2012 Best New Product and Best Green Product competitions. This year, attendees of the International Sign Expo voted for the winners via text messaging.
The BeBrite Induction Sign Lighter (pictured), distributed by N. Glantz & Son, was named Best Green Product. Designed for large single- or double-face outdoor signs, it uses magnets on the exterior of fully enclosed lamps, rather than electrodes on the ends of the lamps. This configuration reportedly provides 100,000 hours of operation, about five times the longevity of high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting.
Other finalists in the competition included energy-efficient light-emitting diode (LED) systems, sign substrates containing renewable, recycled and/or recyclable materials and wide-format printers and inks that avoid volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Meanwhile, Optiva’s SpellBrite Signage System was named Best New Product. Scheduled to be available in mid-May, the system of interlocking letters enables changeable messaging with LEDs.
“SpellBrite clearly made an impact on attendees,” says Lori Anderson, president and CEO of ISA. “With so many amazing products, the competition was tough.”
