Winning wrap goes to the wall

SaladishWide-format printer/cutter vendor Roland DGA recently announced Gamut Media in Brea, Calif., was named the North American people’s choice winner for November 2011 in its ongoing Creative Awards program.

The winning entry (pictured) was a nature-inspired floor-to-ceiling wall mural, produced as part of a branding campaign for Saladish, a restaurant in Los Angeles, Calif. It received 597 votes from visitors to Roland’s website, topping more than more than 95 other regional entries.

Gamut Media also designed and printed Saladish’s menus, logos, window graphics and signage, but the mural was considered the project’s standout feature.

“We produced the prints on our VersaCamm SP-540V inkjet printer/cutter and they came out rich and vibrant,” says Phillip Yu, one of the firm’s owners. “This massive mural is a signature graphic for Saladish that makes for a memorable brand.”

As the monthly winners, Yu and co-owner John Kim received an Apple iPad2 and Roland headphones. They and other entrants are also competing for the grand prize this spring, which includes a trip to Roland’s global headquarters in Japan and a new machine of their choice.
