Montreal-based Cirque du Soleil has celebrated the fifth anniversary of Love, its Beatles-themed show at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev., by unveiling a three-dimensional (3-D) digital display that does not require viewers to wear special glasses.
Installed in the Mirage’s lobby, the 1.3-m (52-in.) ‘autostereoscopic’ display is the result of a new joint collaboration with 3DFusion, which both markets commercial-grade 3-D screens and converts its clients’ broadcast-quality content for display.
“The Love display is the first of many installations planned for the Las Vegas area,” says Paul Cohan, president of Frahan Solutions, 3DFusion’s marketing firm.
The screen is housed within a larger showcase of Beatles memorabilia. The 3-D images are accompanied by the band’s hit songs from the theatrical show soundtrack.
“People stop in their tracks to watch,” says Jennifer Seigler, marketing director for Cirque du Soleil. “The content conversion is amazing. This is just the thing for our shows. We are very pleased and excited.”
