Lou Protonentis, who has had director-level experience in various positions in the textiles industry, has joined the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) as its new technical director.

Protonentis has led research and development (R&D), strategic planning, team building and global sales for companies like Microban International and Noble Biomaterials. In his new role, he will oversee all of AATCC’s technical activities, including test method development and training, publication of technical manuals, development of new materials and management of technical services, research and technology committees. He will be the primary technical contact for members, companies and organizations related to textiles, materials and apparel.

“Lou is ideally suited for this position,” says John Y. Daniels, AATCC’s executive vice-president (EVP). “He has a seasoned background and the communications skills necessary to manage our many technical responsibilities.”

Protonentis has been actively involved with AATCC in the past, serving on several of its research committees.
