During the recent InfoComm 2012 professional audiovisual (AV) communications show, Montreal-based X2O Media was honoured with a Best Award in the digital signage software category for its social interactivity suite of applications.

The award was presented to Maria Porco, vice-president (VP) of business development (pictured, left), and David Wilkins, CEO (right), by Commercial Integrator editor-in-chief Tom LeBlanc (middle).

“We are proud to have our efforts recognized by the panel of judges,” says Wilkins. “With interactivity, AV integrators can harness the power of Twitter, Facebook and other social media to provide a truly engaging experience.”

The suite allows real-time content to be sourced from social media and transformed for digital signage display. Examples include the ‘YouTube Cube,’ which presents video clips based on search terms in a three-dimensional (3-D) format, and a ‘Twitter Shuffle’ function that can be controlled through Microsoft’s Kinect interface. The applications can also be customized with logos and other branding.

Judging criteria for the Best Awards program include innovation, functionality, competitive advantages and benefits for the installer.
