  • The Association for Retail Environments (ARE) Awards honoured Toronto-based Eventscape’s work with a Grand Prize in the service retailer category for the One Bloor condominium sales centre (pictured). Designed by Cecconi Simone, the sales centre incorporated more than 15 custom elements fabricated by Eventscape, including backlit graphics.
  • Drytac, based in Concord, Ont., announced its Emerytex graphic lamination films have been certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as compliant with its regulations governing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films that come into contact with food.
  • The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) announced the winners of its 2012 Sustainability Recognition Program Awards, including sign material providers Aurora Specialty Textiles Group, Laird Plastics and Loparex. The awards honour member companies’ efforts toward a sustainable business ethic.
  • Injection-moulded channel letters from Gemini are now listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), meeting all of the not-for-profit product safety testing organization’s specifications. Gemini also won the Vendor of the Year award from Signs By Tomorrow, a signmaking franchise group.
  • The International Sign Association (ISA) presented the Kirk L. Brimley Award for Distinguished Service to Noel Yarger during its International Sign Expo this spring. Yarger, chair for North American Signs, is a former ISA board member, served as president of the World Sign Association and helped create the Signage Foundation for Communication Excellence, a precursor to today’s Signage Foundation.
  • Colour management technology developer X-Rite received a Red Dot international product design award for its newly redesigned i1Pro 2 spectrophotometer.
  • The International Digital Enterprise Alliance (IDEAlliance) has certified Ampco Grafix, based in Coquitlam, B.C., as a G7 Master Printer, recognizing the efficiency and accuracy of its colour proofing process controls.
  • Wasatch’s SoftRIP software has been fully certified for use with HP Canada’s Designjet L26500 and L28500 wide-format inkjet printers.
  • Commercial liquid crystal display (LCD) provider NEC Display Solutions’ vendor partner program, NEC Partner Net, was awarded five stars by CRN Magazine, which covers products and systems for information technology (IT) value-added resellers (VARs).
