- Montreal-based digital signage software developer X2O Media’s Remote Video Expert interactive application, which adds video conferencing capabilities to touch screens in retail, banking and health-care facilities, was honoured earlier this year by readers of Sound and Video Contractor magazine as one of 2013’s most innovative products.
- The International Digital Enterprise Alliance (IDEAlliance) expanded its independent system validation and certification programs to include original equipment manufacturer (OEM) wide- and grand-format roll-fed and flatbed inkjet printing systems.
- 10net, a digital signage company based in North Vancouver, installed the 20th dynamic menu board for Triple O’s, a quick-service burger restaurant division of the White Spot family restaurant chain.
- Global Garage, which facilitates online buying and selling of used wide- and grand-format printers and accessories, has celebrated its fifth anniversary. Founded in 2009, the company now has customers in 25 countries, including Canada.
- Guinness World Records recognized Panasonic Enterprise Solutions for constructing the largest high-definition television (HDTV) light-emitting diode (LED) screen in the world. The 12-storey tall video board, boasting a 1,917-m2 (20,633-sf) active display area, is positioned in the middle of the backstretch of the Texas Motor Speedway racetrack in Fort Worth, Texas.
- Three Agfa Graphics products won European Digital Press (EDP) awards at the recent 2014 Federation of European Screen Printers Associations (FESPA) Digital show in Munich, Germany, including the Jeti Titan HS printer, which is manufactured in Mississauga, Ont.
- The 3.2-m (10.5-ft) wide Titan HS won in the ‘best flatbed/hybrid printer over 200,000 euros’ category. The other two awards honoured Agfa’s Asanti sign and display workflow management software and Altamira Pack low-migration (LM) ultraviolet-curable (UV-curable) inks.
- Ocean Graphics & Signs received a commemorative trophy and plaque for purchasing the one-millionth software package from SA International (SAi), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
- At the 2014 Society for Experiential Design (SEGD) Conference in Atlanta, Ga., Arlon Graphics’ Ultimate PremiumPlus adhesive-backed film—intended as an alternative to high-cost paints and textured finishes—won the ‘best new product’ award.
- During the InfoComm 2014 audiovisual (AV) industry show in Las Vegas, Calif., Prysm won a Commercial Integrator ‘Best’ Award in the video wall solutions category for its laser phosphor display (LPD) technology, which allows video walls to be scaled up to and beyond so-called ‘4K’ ultra-high-definition (UHD) resolution.
- Digital cutter vendor Zünd America celebrated its 10th anniversary with an open house in June. Since it was established in 2004, the business has grown from five employees and 929 m2 (10,000 sf) to 50 employees and 2,230 m2 (24,000 sf) of offices and warehousing space.
- Digital Caddies, which mounts interactive tablet screens in golf carts, completed its 100th course installation at Stockton Seaview Golf Club in Galloway, N.J.
- Laser engraver and cutter manufacturer Trotec was awarded GreenBuilding Programme (GBP) certification for its new world headquarters (HQ) in Marchtrenk, Austria, which opened in late 2013. The majority of energy used in the building comes from solar power.
