B.C. city seeks resident input on new wayfinding strategy

The city of Richmond, B.C., is requesting input on its community wayfinding strategy, which is intended to help residents and visitors better navigate the city by foot, on wheels, or via public transit.

The new initiative aims to further connect people to their surroundings, as well as promote attractions, places of special interest, and the best routes for moving through Richmond.

Through March 26, there will be various opportunities to share feedback, both in person and online. Residents are invited to complete a survey at LetsTalkRichmond.ca, or attend one of two pop-up events, where they can provide their comments or ask questions.

The community wayfinding strategy is expected to be completed in 2024. Once finalized, it will include implementation recommendations such as new signage, digital wayfinding systems, and potential pilot projects.

“The city wants to unify and enhance Richmond as a vibrant destination through improved wayfinding,” says Mayor Malcolm Brodie. “We encourage input from residents and stakeholders, whose ideas and priorities will shape the community wayfinding strategy that will help elevate the city experience for residents, visitors, and newcomers.”
