The Best of Canada’s Sign Industry Awards (BOCSIes) honours the top work of sign companies, related organizations, and individuals across the country.
Entries to this year’s awards program, which is jointly managed by Sign Media Canada and the Sign Association of Canada (SAC), came in from sign professionals across the country. With the judges reviewing hundreds of eligible projects, Sign Media Canada, along with SAC, is now proud to showcase the winners of the BOCSIes competition.
This year’s competition attracted many high-calibre projects, representing the best of the best from all corners of Canada’s sign industry. With final scores proving close, all entrants deserve congratulations for the outstanding quality of their work. In this regard, we are including the runners-up.

Digital Signage
The winner is Nummax for Nike West Edmonton Mall

Primary Materials & Methods: The challenge for this project was the fabrication of aluminum cabinets, specially designed to follow the shape of the store entrance and align perfectly with the junction of the side screens on the walls. Content creators required a seamless continuity of the image in all directions. The brightness of the 1,200 nits LED was also required to meet the required indoor brightness level to balance image intensity and customer comfort.
For the installation, each casing was secured to a reinforced background, whether on the walls or the ceiling, and metal capping to harmonize with the store’s architecture. The LED modules used are glue-on-board (GOB) to address the risk associated with the proximity of the public to the screens. Each module is reinforced with additional magnetic supports. This achievement is part of the Nike WEN project, totaling 98m2 (1,054.8 sf) of Nummax LED displays.
