Illuminated Signs
The winner is Signature Sign & Image for SkipARRR’s Parrot Putt
Designer: Elaine Wallis
Manufacturer/Fabricator: Signature Sign & Image: Dan M & George C (Fabrication) Braden S (Programming), Don P (CNC), Courtney A & Samantha F (Vinyl Graphics) Ryan C (Paint)
Submitter: Courtney Albanese
Client: Niagara Clifton Group
Location: Niagara Falls, Ont.
Primary Materials & Methods: The entire crew contributed to this project, with the designer successfully bringing the vision to life. The bright yellow and green paint, combined with the flashing lights and large size, make the sign stand out prominently on Clifton Hill at Niagara Falls. The fabricators worked to create the unique shape of the custom sign and assembled it with precision. The paint department conducted multiple tests to determine the right colours and worked extra hours to meet the project’s deadlines.
The CNC operator cut all acrylic components and prepared them for the vinyl graphics department, where the vinyl technicians faced challenges due to the complex shapes of some graphics, particularly the parrot. The team then focused on lighting, assembly, and final touches, while the programmer developed the lighting sequence visible at night. The install crew worked early mornings to ensure the signs were properly installed and operational for the client.
The project was completed with the crew’s collective effort, and the summer shutdown party was held at SkipARRR’s to mark the completion.
