[1]The Calgary Flames recently opened the 2015-2016 National Hockey League (NHL) season with a new centre-hung light-emitting diode (LED) scoreboard at the Scotiabank Saddledome, manufactured and installed by Daktronics.
The structure features 14 video displays, including: four main 2.7 x 5-m (9 x 16.5-ft) screens with 10-mm (0.4-in.) line spacing; eight secondary 2.4 x 3.2-m (8 x 10.5-ft) screens with 15-mm (0.6-in.) line spacing; and two ‘ring’ displays at the top and bottom, measuring 0.6 x 38.7 m (2 x 127 ft) and 0.6 x 25 m (2 x 82 ft), respectively, with 20-mm (0.8-in.) line spacing.
Additionally, a 360-degree ‘ribbon’ display has been installed along the seating fascia around the arena, measuring 0.8 x 230 m (2.5 x 753 ft), with 15-mm (0.6-in.) line spacing.
“We’re proud to assist a long-time customer in upgrading its game-day experience,” says Daktronics sales representative Mark Johnson. “We look forward to see the impact of these displays as the hockey season moves along.”
