The Sign Association of Canada (SAC) has selected the International Sign Association (ISA) to manage the group along with its trade show, Sign Expo Canada.

“The Canadian sign, graphics, and visual communications industry is really growing and evolving and so are the needs of our members,” said Carl Weger, SAC president. “With ISA managing the association’s operations, the benefits for our members are tremendous, particularly in areas which impact our businesses most: workforce recruitment, training, advocacy, and events like Sign Expo Canada.”

ISA assumed delivery of member services, administration, and management of the expo, effective January 1, 2020.

“ISA and SAC have enjoyed a very close relationship for many years, and particularly since ISA’s realignment, which deepened affiliated associations,” said Lori Anderson, ISA president and CEO. “ISA’s management of SAC will allow us to develop solutions that impact businesses on both sides of the border.”

SAC’s current membership model, which sees members join at the provincial level and receive complimentary membership in SAC/ACE and ISA, will continue.

As part of the newly announced partnership, Karin Eaton, former executive director of the Ontario Sign Association (OSA), has been named executive director of SAC.[2]

Before leading OSA, she was the director of government relations for SAC; her expertise will help to increase the relevance of the association to the sign, graphics, and visual communications industry in Canada.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to SAC at this exciting time,” said Eaton. “The new alliance with ISA will bring stronger programs to members, particularly in the areas of advocacy, workforce development, and events. I look forward to continue working with members, exploring new opportunities, and solving challenging issues together.”

According to Weger, Eaton’s leadership abilities as well as her established excellent working relationships with regional chapter boards will be a benefit to SAC membership.

“Karin is the ideal leader for SAC at this time,” he said. “She brings expertise in government relations, which is an area that impacts our members, and she understands the issues at the provincial association level well. I know she will help grow the association and continue to develop programs for our members.”

Anderson added: “Karin’s appointment as SAC executive director will ensure a seamless transition as ISA assumes its management role,” she said.
