Two Canadian projects were among the winners of this year’s Digital Screenmedia Association (DSA) Industry Excellence Awards, which honour digital signage, self-service kiosk and mobile technology deployments across all vertical market segments.
Montreal-based software and content developer X2O Media won in the ‘Best Entertainment Deployment – Mobile’ category for its work on behalf of Cisco Systems for the 2011 Rogers Cup tennis tournament (pictured left). The event’s host venues in Montreal and Toronto used touch screens and Research in Motion (RIM) BlackBerry PlayBook tablets to deliver digital signage content (see Sign Media Canada, April 2012, page 48).
The other Canadian winner was iSign Media in Richmond Hill, Ont. The ‘smart antenna’ (pictured above) it developed for PinPoint Media Group—which iSign later acquired—won in the ‘Best Retail Deployment – Mobile’ category. Designed to send digital signage content to shoppers’ mobile phones, the technology is currently being rolled out and assessed across Canada and the U.S.
The awards were announced in conjunction with the Customer Engagement Technology World (CETW) conference at the end of March.
