Three Canadian sign companies have been honoured by the International Sign Association (ISA) for committing significant resources to training through its International Sign Academy program, earning Quality Training Accomplishment designation for meeting certain thresholds.
The International Sign Academy includes an online training program, with regular webinars and on-demand courses, and in-person training, including crane operator certification and select events at ISA’s annual International Sign Expo. Companies can earn one of four levels of award based on their employees’ cumulative participation. Individuals are recognized for accruing more than 15 Professional Development Units (PDUs) within a calendar year.
In ISA’s most recent Quality Training Accomplishment awards, a record 86 companies and 46 individuals across the U.S. and Canada received the distinction of sign education excellence. Among these, two Canadian companies—Signature Signs & Image in Niagara Falls, Ont. (examples of work pictured) and TR Trades Reproduction in Vancouver—were honoured at the silver level for achieving 26 to 50 PDUs. One more Canadian company, Calgary-based Turner Signs, was recognized at the bronze level for reaching 15 to 25 PDUs. All three are ISA member companies, but non-members can also take part in International Sign Academy training.
“These companies have taken full advantage of ISA’s lineup of educational courses to help develop new skills for existing employees and to train new hires,” says Lori Anderson, ISA’s president and CEO.
Meanwhile, individual awards for accruing more than 15 PDUs went to Ryan Nix at Turner Signs and both Jeff and Mark Wallis at Signature Sign.
