NEC Display Solutions’ 686-mm (27-in.) MultiSync EA273WM commercial liquid crystal display (LCD) with light-emitting diode (LED) backlighting (pictured) won a 2012 International Forum (IF) product design award. Among other factors, it was praised for its chassis, which is up to 30 per cent thinner and 25 per cent lighter than its predecessors.

New Canadian members of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) include Consolidated Converting in Loretto, Ont., Pro Vehicle Outlines in Ottawa, Permaboss.com in Aurora, Ont., Phoenix Professional Labs in Toronto and Build a Birdhouse in Whitby, Ont., whose custom wrapped birdhouses won in the ‘unique applications/digital entries’ category of SGIA’s 2012 Golden Image Awards.

In late 2012, Avery Dennison Graphic Solutions certified 14 more graphic installers in Canada and the U.S. through a two-part test, including a written exam and a hands-on vehicle wrapping demonstration.

Esko recently donated multiple licences of its Studio and ArtiosCAD software to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., where graphic design students develop concepts in areas like in-store merchandising, packaging and branding.
