Clarington, Ont., is set to receive a boost in its active transportation infrastructure with the announcement of federal funding for the development of a comprehensive wayfinding system. Supported by Infrastructure Canada’s Active Transportation Fund, Clarington is set to receive $50,000 to develop its wayfinding system strategy with the aim to create a healthier, more connected, and sustainable municipality.

The wayfinding system will encompass signage, route maps, accessibility information, and digital resources to assist residents and visitors in navigating the municipality. This project is part of a larger effort by the federal government, with 50 planning and design projects receiving funding across Ontario.

“The Municipality of Clarington is grateful to the Government of Canada for these funds, which will help residents and visitors who enjoy cycling, walking, or rolling through our community,” says Adrian Foster, mayor of Clarington. The wayfinding system will not only benefit Clarington residents, but also integrate with broader regional transportation infrastructure in Durham, facilitating connectivity across communities.
