Toronto-based DM Digital+1 recently installed a wide-format digital express cutter from MultiCam Canada in its finishing department for the production of banners, point-of-purchase (POP) graphics and vinyl signage.

A full-service media production and management firm, DM Digital+1 handles projects from the pre-media and digital asset management phases through to printing and finishing. In-house departments include a creative design team and a photo studio.

The new sheetfed digital cutter uses a spindle and dual-knife system to cut up to 50-mm (2-in.) thick materials on a 2 x 3-m (6.6 x 9.8-ft) vacuum bed. It features MultiCam’s MultiVision digital registration system, which combines software and hardware to recognize marks on a substrate and compensate automatically to prevent image skew and distortion.

A young company set up by the previous owners of printing company PLM Group, DM Digital+1 has been moving further into wide-format printing with a digital die cutter and an EFI Vutek GS2000 flatbed and roll-to-roll ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) printer.
