General Formulations, a global manufacturer of pressure-sensitive media, film, and laminates with operations in both the United States and Canada, has announced the promotion of Dan Collins to Vice President of Purchasing & Production. Collins brings more than 20 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, and multi-channel product distribution with P&L ownership, making him well-suited for the role.
Collins joined General Formulations in November 2023 as Finishing Plant Manager, where he played a key role in streamlining production operations and driving continuous improvement efforts. His leadership style emphasizes teamwork and leading by example, as well as values that align with General Formulations’ commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
“Dan’s entrepreneurial mindset, coupled with his extensive experience in operations and his commitment to fostering strong team dynamics, make him the ideal candidate for this role,” said Mike Clay, President of General Formulations. “We are confident that under his leadership, GF will continue to enhance its operational excellence and deliver exceptional value to our customers worldwide.”
Throughout his career, Collins has demonstrated the ability to combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership. He started in sales and marketing but shifted his focus to production after securing his first major client. Since then, he has focused on optimizing workflows and enhancing efficiencies in various industries.
Among his notable achievements, Collins managed the opening of an Amazon fulfilment centre spanning millions of square feet, where his team handled a record-breaking volume of inbound and outbound packages within a single day. He has also led teams of up to 800 employees and operated his own business, Eagle Auto Parts, which specializes in vehicle recycling.
Collins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Grand Valley State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. His expertise spans financial analysis, change management, process improvement, and lean manufacturing.
