This coming Thursday, January 31, is the deadline for the Society for Environmental Graphic Design’s (SEGD’s) 2013 Global Design Awards. There is also a ‘late deadline’ of February 14, at which point extra fees will apply.
Established in 1987 to recognize excellence in various types of environmental graphic design (EGD), the awards are reportedly the only international design competition focused on communication within built environments. Past winners have included exhibitry (example pictured), wayfinding systems, architectural signage, corporate identities, branding, retail projects, interior design and public art installations.
“The SEGD Awards represent the best of a specific design discipline,” says Tom Marquardt, principal at Design Collaboratives, which has made a habit of entering each year. “They bring prestige and a return on investment (ROI) by validating the calibre of work we provide. And a winning project adds to our client’s cachet.”
The complete submission guidelines are available at www.segd.org. This year’s winners will be announced during the SEGD Conference in June in San Francisco, Calif.
