Deadline approaches for sustainable printing recognition

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) is encouraging its digital printing and screenprinting member companies, including those in Canada, to apply now to the Sustainability Recognition Program, as this year’s deadline of February 24 is fast-approaching. The program recognizes specialty imaging companies as they take steps to develop a sustainable business ethic. All program applicants become eligible for SGIA’s Sustainability Recognition Award, with winners determined based on their facilities’ internal policies and other information. The program is also intended to help member companies stay competitive in the face of new customer demands. According to the 2011 SGIA Market Trends and Product Specialties Report, 25.4 per cent of specialty imaging businesses are already actively marketing and making profitable use of sustainability initiatives. The program highlights how sustainability measures can reduce a company’s environmental footprint, minimize overhead costs and create a healthier work environment.
