Astral Out-of-Home is installing a new network of 30 ‘digital columns’ in downtown Montreal, similar to those already seen in London, England, and San Francisco, Calif. A gradual rollout is expected to take place in mid-August.
Each column will be equipped with a 1.8-m (72-in.) high-definition (HD) liquid crystal display (LCD) on one side and a downtown map on the other. They will be installed along major commercial streets, including Sherbrooke and Ste-Catherine, and near busy areas like the Quartier des Spectacles, an entertainment district known for hosting outdoor festivals and cultural events.
The screens will display six advertisers’ messages in rotation. Overall, the digital signage network is expected to reach an audience of nearly 1 million consumers every day. The columns will also incorporate Quick Response (QR) codes and near field communication (NFC) technology to support interactivity.
“We are proud the first digital column network in Canada is being launched in Montreal, enabling advertisers to target a highly active, mobile population where it works, shops and plays,” says Luc Sabbatini, president of Astral Out-of-Home.
