While Canadian athletic prowess was on display at the Summer Olympic Games in London, England, Canadian digital signage technology was also being showcased nearby, with two ‘cube-based’ dynamic displays installed at Canada Olympic House.

Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) opened the Olympic House in London’s Trafalgar Square to serve as an official Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) space for athletes during the games and to host business leaders and government dignitaries. The digital displays were arranged in partnership with Christie, which manufactures rear-projection cubes and other audiovisual (AV) systems in Kitchener, Ont.

A lobby display comprised 37 MicroTile cubes, while four Entero cubes were featured in the business club area. Both arrays showed a montage of video and graphics highlighting Canadian landscapes and business sectors, part of the facility’s effort to encourage foreign investment in Canada. Montreal-based Float4 Interactive provided a kit to allow multiple users to interact with the displays.

“As a contributor to Canada’s technology revolution, Christie is proud to bring its expertise to Canada Olympic House to help further the country’s expansion,” said Kathryn Cress, the company’s vice-president (VP) of global and corporate marketing. “From visual effects to wireless and mobile applications, Canada is an important player in the global digital economy.”
