The Design Exchange, a contemporary event venue in downtown Toronto, was recently upgraded to offer visitors a fully immersive digital experience.
Purpose-built in 1937 as the original Stock Exchange, the Design Exchange has been a popular venue for corporate and social events for more than two decades. Now, with more modern interior upgrades—which mindfully preserve the historical elements of the building—the 3,716.1-m2 (40,000-sf) space aims to provide turnkey solutions for corporate events, weddings, galas, trade shows, and conferences, powered by events and catering partner Eatertainment Events and innovations organization Elevate.
The most exclusive new feature of the transformation is Canada’s first dedicated fully immersive projection mapping system, which broadcasts 13.7- x 70.1-m (45- x 230-ft) images and videos with a 270-degree viewing angle. Situated on the 594.5-m2 (6,500-sf) “Trading Floor,” clients will have access to a state-of-the-art system with fully customizable content, to bring immersive, virtual, and interactive elements to their events.
“History, design, and innovation come together in this venue, and our team is already welcoming clients from all over the world, who have been drawn to this groundbreaking immersive environment,” says Sebastien Centner, founder and creative director of Eatertainment Events. “The immersive boom is revolutionizing live experiences, and with innovations like the MSG Sphere leading the way, we are going to see the event landscape change dramatically, as venues like the Design Exchange offer in-house and turnkey projection mapping at a fraction of what it used to cost to create these types of environments.”
The Design Exchange is located at 234 Bay St. in Toronto.
