Clear Channel Outdoor Canada has unveiled a new interactive kiosk for advertising and wayfinding purposes at Terminal 1 of Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

The two-sided Digimax unit’s ad module features a pair of 2.6-m (103-in.) high-definition (HD) plasma displays in portrait mode. The wayfinding module promotes the airport’s retailers with two interactive touch screens. The system is designed to offer flexibility in changing messages and in providing real-time data analysis.

The ad screens are expected to attract content in categories like fashion, cosmetics and packaged consumer goods, while the wayfinding screens are intended to help venue owners drive retail revenues through initiatives like electronic coupons. The kiosk also displays various departure and gate details, automated teller machine (ATM) locations and directions to restrooms, with information provided in multiple languages.

The kiosk is the first part of a market test in collaboration with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which runs Pearson.

“It marries the needs of the landlord—in terms of supplying valuable information to patrons—and the needs of advertisers,” says Alain Simard, vice-president (VP) of marketing for Clear Channel in Eastern Canada.
