P405_Rt 003[1]NEC Display Solutions has introduced the MultiSync X474HB, a digital signage screen designed to adapt to sunny surroundings.

The 1.2-m (47-in.) liquid crystal display (LCD), backlit with light-emitting diodes (LEDs), adjusts its brightness to its surroundings, reportedly up to 2,000 cd/m2 (2,000 nits). It also integrates an optical film to overcome polarization of emitted light, enabling full readability in semi-outdoor locations for passersby wearing polarized sunglasses.

“The X474HB is designed to cope with the readability challenges that often arise in sunlit areas,” says Keith Yanke, senior director of large-screen displays and projectors for NEC Display Solutions. “This display is ideal for any heavy-duty digital signage application that requires enhanced visual performance and long operating hours.”

The ‘semi-outdoor’ LCD is intended for installation behind windows or within cabinets.
